“Think” by Alice – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
New Beat music took over the late 80’s in many forms. The
discovery of this heavy synthesized electronic dance music is said to
have been formulated by listening to instrumental electronic music at
lower BPMs and taking a heavy trip into each thump of the beat and
rhythm. Inspired by house music there is a contrast that is somewhat
similar yet unique in its own. “Think” is a classic James Brown penned
song from 1972 recorded by Lyn Collins. This cover works the heavy
breakbeat and places a vocalist who may be out of her realm but plays
it in a camp for new beat arousal. It is one of the early pieces to
make due as a cover and utilize the formula in an innovative way.
I have taken scenes from the 1980 comedy “The Blues Brothers” and
appropriately using the Aretha Franklin segment to complete this
somewhat twisted interpretation.
