“New Dress” by Depeche Mode – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Depeche Mode is a synth-pop group whose impact during the 80’s created a moody yet exciting effect with their dance music. “New Dress” comes from their 1986 project “Black Celebration” and reports a view of the publics need for the lesser of news which becomes headlines over world disasters and truth. Focusing on late Princess Diana of Wales and the tabloids obsession with her affairs. The piece gives us another opportunity to experience the alternative synthesizer branding those overlays the drastic and dark edge sound very appealing.

I have taken the 2014 film “Diana” with Naomi Watts and Naveen Andrews into this Disco Video Mix to bring the song a new layer of thought and sadness. The segments from the film are placed to bring out the drama of Depeche Mode’s own focus.

The film was directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel
